Come and join us for our Paddock to Plate Educational Visit


For primary and secondary schools

This unique experience offers a food based educational experience where students spend time in our kitchen veggie gardens identifying, harvesting and learning about growing produce. This is followed by a cooking session where they prepare their own hand made pizzas using some of our home grown produce. They then enjoy a shared lunch, eating the food they have created with their classmates and teachers.

We also give them the opportunity to experience a restaurant environment and also see behind the scenes in a commercial kitchen.

The Experience:

9:30am arrival at The Falls Retreat

Welcome from award winning chef Brad King* (subject to availability)

Head into the kitchen veggie garden to identify and harvest produce. Learn more about recycling and reusing waste with compost and worm farms.

Head into the Bistro barn for a pizza making session. The pizza bases will be provided on a board and they can select their own toppings.

Whilst the pizzas cook, students can enjoy our outdoor area, use the playground and visit the chooks.

Each student and adult gets to eat their own pizza for lunch and talk about their experience.

Departure: 12 noon

Cost: $20 per person (inc. GST)

The Falls Retreat - 25 Waitawheta Road, RD2, Waihi

We are located in the Karangahake Gorge.

Primary and Secondary Schools

Maximum approx 40 people (including adults)

Availability and Booking Requirements:

During term time on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays (subject to availability)
